用十二地支與十二種動物(鼠、牛、虎、兔、龍、蛇、馬、羊、猴、雞、狗、豬)相配合來記人生出年份,如子年出生則屬鼠,稱“屬相”。又稱“生肖”英文 any of the twelve animals, representing the twelve Earthly Branches, used to symbolize the year in which a person is born
