普通話和某些方言中的一種語音現象。後綴“兒”字不自成音節,而和前頭的音節合在一起,使前一音節的韻母成爲捲舌韻母英文 suffixation of a nonsyllabic r to nouns and sometimes verbs,causing a retroflexion of the preceding vowel,typical of the pronunciation of standard Chinese and of some dialects

一字後附「兒」字語尾，讀時「兒」與前字相拼，成捲舌韻，相拼時有種種變化，稱為「兒化」。如圈兒不讀作ㄑㄩㄢㄦˊ而讀作ㄑㄩㄚㄦ，牌兒不讀作ㄆㄞㄦˊ而讀作ㄆㄚˊㄦ。
