民国八年五月四日发生的学生爱国运动。起因为巴黎和会中列强对中国山东问题的漠视，消息传回国内，导致北京学生激烈抗议，此一运动不久即扩大范围于全国各界。后转为要求检讨传统旧习的新文化运动，对中国政治、社会、文化、思想影响甚钜。
